UK Wood Protection Association Information
Fact Sheet No 1: Understanding Fire Protection Terms
The Wood Protection Association (WPA) gets asked many questions about the fire protection of wood used in construction. Among the most frequently asked questions is to ask if ‘reaction to fire’ properties are the same as ‘fire resistance’ properties. These terms do have very different definitions and for those not in the know they can get confused leading to misunderstandings. To help clear up any potential for confusion WPA has published the Guidance Note WPA FR 1: Understanding fire protection terms.
Fact Sheet No 2: Understanding Combustibility
This Wood Protection Association (WPA) Fact Sheet responds to questions asked about the combustibility of wood and the test standards that define the reaction to fire properties of fire retardant treated wood/wood based panels and building materials in general.
